Recently, the Hengqin Culture and Art Complex located in Zhuhai, China, has been completed.

Located in Zhuhai, a southern city in China, this building spans an area of 142,560 square meters and comprises a library, a theater, and a museum. Each of them boasts a rooftop garden with a terrace.
The building is adjacent to a green park surrounded by residential buildings, and is designed to integrate three organizations into a single complex.

Aperon Studio "created a stepped form, with the roof terrace descending from 36 meters to 24 meters, facing the seaside."
The stacked roof creates three platforms, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding nature and providing a green space for community activities.

The lowest level is designed as a children's theme park, featuring sand pits, amusement facilities, restaurants, and cafes.
The staff restaurant and garden space are located on the central platform, providing a place for both visitors and staff to rest and relax.

Two spiral staircases invite visitors to the top platform, where they will first encounter a bamboo garden, which is part of a rain garden filled with various green plants.
On the first floor, there are three arches of different shapes, each leading to a hall with a distinct function.

The knowledge pavilion at the highest arch houses a library. The central performance hall, featuring a large open stage and a black box theater, will stage performances of dance, music, drama, and opera.
The exhibition hall, featuring a series of circular skylights resembling "cheese holes", will host exhibitions focusing on art and science.

The vaulted ceilings of all three halls are covered with wooden and bamboo boards, aiming to add a warm feeling to the entire complex.
The glass skylights in each hall are designed to provide ample natural lighting for the space.
On the waterfront facade, a cantilever shelters a sunken semi-circular plaza, which doubles as a stage and auditorium for weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events.
