After seeing too many monotonous straight curtain walls and rigid solid walls, I finally understand why curved perforated skin has become the preferred choice for public buildings and real estate commercial facades in recent years.
Hard metals are never just cold and rigid in appearance. When the flat stretch mesh and perforated aluminum plate bend and arc along the structure, the tough industrial material produces a soft curve rhythm, reshaping the dialogue relationship between architecture, light, and city. It breaks the inherent cold and hard rigidity of metal sheets: softening the corners of buildings with curved surfaces and dissolving the heaviness of walls with perforations. Smooth curved surfaces reshape the overall outline of the building, with fine hollow textures that absorb sunlight and filter light and shadow, giving the cold building walls a dynamic breathing sensation that flows over time.
A straight facade is a 'static building', while a curved perforated facade is a 'building that grows and changes light and shadow'. Arc dissolves the heaviness of the wall, and the hollow texture filters direct sunlight; During daylight, light and shadow gradually flow along the curved surface, weakening the edges and corners of the building; At dusk, the semi transparent metal filters warm toned sky light, presenting a hazy and soft layered facade; At night, the built-in lighting shines through, and the curved texture is transformed into the building's built-in soft light filter. The collision of three characteristics - the cold hardness of metal, the softness of curved lines, and the transparency of hollow spaces - endows modern architecture with a light, restrained, and dynamic rhythmic expression on its exterior.
